QOTD: #213

What’s something most people don’t know about you?

The origins of my last name is something that most people, even friends don’t know about.

My last name is Aquino (AH-KWEENO).

It’s because I am a descendent of the philosopher Saint Thomas Aquinas who was the founder of the philosophical theory of Teleology.

To put it in the most simple of terms, “that which mankind does not understand we attribute to God”.

As always, thank you for reading…

  1. That’s an interesting tidbit about your last name’s origin! Saint Thomas Aquinas was indeed a prominent philosopher and theologian known for his teleological arguments for the existence of God. His philosophy of “that which mankind does not understand we attribute to God” is a form of the argument from ignorance, which suggests that the existence of God cannot be disproven because we lack knowledge and understanding of certain phenomena.

    • Exactly. I like it cause it feels like it allows me to walk that fine line between science and religion that I walk in my own beliefs in life.

For example, I believe the Big Bang is what kicked off our universe, but maybe God made the Big Bang hence theology in action. Thank you for reading. 😊😊
