The dream is over buried and dead

from all things seen and read.

Life now a tangled mess

doctors/politicians do their best

alas I confess

its the hardest test.

To contain the strain that beats in brains

just insane as money drains.

What can we do what can we say

boarded up inside homes drying clay

and at the end of a day

its not a new day.

A few more weeks we stay apart

this affair breaks my nimble heart.

stabs like steely knife

wondering about the ways of life

at home with kids and wife

humbled nations share true strife.

Awake from this nightmare soon

pay and plead and beg for boon.

Let it end end today

is for now I pray

Roses Stained with Love

The nightingale sings  

With blood stained wings.

Love forlorn trampled on the ground 

Pins could drop in the absence of sound.

A student shakes his weary head 

Not knowing of the song or dead.

The ultimate price for loves delight 

Vanished before the very next night.

Money and stature are all that moves 

Hearts and minds and bodies too.

I am Wilde’s student and the nightingale too 

I’ve loved many times and was always the fool.

I’ve tried to change take the cynic’s route 

That just isn’t what I am all about.

For the loves we have that are false and true.

I am not ignoring your work or wanting your numbers to be any lower. I hope that they (WordPress) get their act together and correct whatever issues they are having as I’m positive I’m not alone in these issues.

What alternative career paths have you considered or are interested in?

I feel this question is redundant as it has been asked in many other forms and most of my readers know I’d be a writer/musician, which to a degree I already am.

What food would you say is your specialty?

I have a few cooking specialties, I think. I am half Italian and remember a lot of my Nana’s recipes from watching her cook so I make a lot of different pasta sauces from scratch.

I’m also pretty adept at making marinades and grilling meats on the barbecue.

I’m also not too shabby at making quesadillas, especially when I have a quesadilla maker to cook them on.

What major historical events do you remember?

There’s so many, and they really are not good, unfortunately.

As far as health or terrorist related disasters:

Persian Gulf War 1991

Persian Gulf War 2001

The COVID 19 Pandemic.

The January 6th, 2021 Attacks on the US Capital.

The September 11th Terrorist Attacks.

Also living in Southern California, I’ve been through several significant earthquakes:

1987 Whittier Earthquake (5.9)

1992 Landers Earthquake (7.3)

1992 Big Bear Earthquake (same day) (6.5)

1994 Northridge Earthquake (6.7)

1999 Hector Mine Earthquake (7.1).

We also had some very significant flooding and very heavy rains and other inclement weather during significant El Niños that I also experienced here in Southern California, California.

1982 El Niño event (previous all-time record for most rain in and southern and northern California going as far back as were kept.)

1993 El Niño event

1997 El Niño event (all-time most rain in most of California going as far back as records were kept).

I also happen to be living in Texas (Irving) in 2015 for what was at the time, the wettest rain season in the history of the state. I recall getting flash flood warnings on my phone for six months straight because the Trinity River was way over its banks.

The Clash Police and Thieves

I have come to appreciate many forms and off-shoots of Punk Rock. Protopunk, bands like the Flaming Groovies, Television, The Who, and Velvet Underground. Pioneer Punk bands like: The New York Dolls, The Stooges, The Ramones, and many others. These led to a movement in the late 1970s in England to bands like the Sex Pistols, The Damned, and The Clash. Will save hard-core punk bands from the early 80s for another discussion, but I love them too, as well as the modern Punk Rock bands of the 90s and beyond.

A truly remarkable cover of the Junior Murvin reggae classic.  This is my favorite song by The Clash and it’s off of their self titled debut album.

Released in 1977, I love how this song starts, I love the beat, and I love the bass line on the bottom.  The guitar riffs on 2s and 4s with syncopated drums. Something very different and interesting. Joe Strummer with his cool vocals that would become the standard for many of their albums to come. 

Great political lyrics just like many clash songs have.

Very unique and different and I think you’ll get a kick out of this cover like I do. Be sure to play it loud and put on some headphones for this bad boy!!

What’s the biggest risk you’d like to take — but haven’t been able to?

This is a great question today, my hats off to you. 😊

The biggest risks id like to take relate to my creativity. I’d like to publish many books. I’d like to publish anthologies of my best poetry, children’s books, a book of short stories and essays, and maybe a self help book on the exodus from narcissist relationships as I have considerable field experience in that area.

Also I’d love to be in a band (jazz combo or rock cover).

What are you most proud of in your life?

I’m proud that I’m here talking to you right now. I’m proud that I made it further than a lot of people would’ve gotten living my circumstances. I’m proud that I’m me and that I don’t worry anymore about what other people think.

I’m proud that despite a gazillion bad choices I made in my life. I can make good ones now and appreciate the wisdom I learned from my bad decisions in the past.

I’m proud that I’m able to stand on my own, not relying on anybody but me for eating and for cooking, and for money, and for meals, and for love, and for everything. It’s taken a long time to get here. It’s not that I don’t want love from others and I don’t receive it. I do but I’m just saying I also love myself.

I’m proud that I’m doing what I love to do for a living and for fun here in my blog. I’m proud that I’m not sorry for being eccentric weird oddball that I am.

I’m proud of who I am!!!!
