How do people listen to auto-tuned junk
Rather than the protest of hardcore punk
Or George Clinton and his Parliament funk
Modern music, far too easy to debunk.
–
What would the youngsters do or say
If they heard all the music I had to play
With unaided singer’s, all out on display
Non computerized instruments at the fray.
–
Probably, they’d find me crazy but I’m not
Just using these enormous ears I’ve got
Knowing a difference between art and rot
It’s just the weirdo that I am believe it or not.
–
Your music brain needs more to eat
Than loud bass and persistent beat
Those songs feed my rapid retreat
Into my own music then I’m compete.
–
Don’t give me static when I cringe and frown
When I hear overuse of bass going down
I’ll wear my headphones like my crown
Playing the best music that can be found…

It makes me very sad to see how music has declined over the years. Popularity over quality and profit over everything ☹️

Too much bass, drum machines instead of the creativity of a good drummer, too much repetition. I got to sing a jazz piece today, Jon Henderson’s lyrics to Miles Davis’ Four. There is nothing comparable being written today, not just the music, but lyrics that have so much meaning.

I agree I played in many jazz combos and it’s way more fun playing all the instruments than having a stupid machine to do it. Definitely would like to hear some of your singing sometime my friend. 😀

Okay, now you’ve given me an idea for a Thanksgiving post with a video, if I can pull it off…

Every so often I do say that, but, I’ve been thinking about the topic a lot lately, and it’s just different. It’s like listening to the Rolling Stones’ Sticky Fingers on vinyl or CD or digital…yes, I find the vinyl sounds warmer, but better?…..and now, we have so many choices, the only thing is I miss, not as many places to go and hear live music as in the 80s, 90s….a lot of places I used to go have lost out to high rises…..
