Writing Life

Writing poetry isn’t very easy

As inspiration strikes we’re busy.

🤪

Placing words together that rhyme

Like “time”, “slime”, and “mime”

🤪

To compose a limerick that’s not cheesy.

The Wisdom of Mistakes

There’s wisdom in the mistakes

No matter how much your heart breaks.

There are lessons in each falling

Until you find your calling.

There is truth after the deceit

Then you’ll learn you’re complete.

There is love after hate

To this there is no debate.

There are rainbows after your storms

To remind you that you’re living and warm.

There’s acceptance in your odd

So be thankful to your creator or God.

In the weakness, you’ll find you are strong

Even if your journey is long.

In the end, you’ll pass each test

In finding yourself, being the very best…

She wanted appreciation

So I appreciated her.

She wanted to relaxation

So I relaxed her.

She wanted to be desired

So I desired her.

She wanted to be admired

She wanted peace

So I calmed her.

She wanted to share vulnerability

So I trusted her.

She wanted to be free

Lessons In Heartbreak

Does it hurt?

Good then it was a lesson.

Did you think?

Good, you’re using your brain.

Did you cry?

Good, then you felt something.

Did you die?

No, good, whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.

Did you grow?

Good, each heartbreak makes you more aware what you want in your life.

Did you care?

Yes, good, being the bigger person isn’t easy, but it is everything.

Do you reflect?

Good, reflection gains perspective.

Do you know yourself?

Good, consider the journey and hardships.

Did you read this?

Great, thank you for doing so, have a great day…

Nostalgia or Change?

Wonder where I’d go

if I had a time machine.

Change some decisions

Formerly made with regrets

Relive pasts that I forget?

Or maybe go back

And meet with my younger self

Giving grave warnings

About desperation’s hell

To live a life of my dreams.

Friday Night Home Football Games

Remembering

Friday in band

Football games

Played in the stands.

We’d march in line

Onto the field

Playing anthems

Our classmates reeled.

Then marching out

Off, we would flow

Back to our seats

Till halftime, shows.

Then back we’d march

Wet dewy grass

Perform our show

From first to last.

Classmates cheering

Clapping their hands

Building us up

From metal stands.

From in the stands

Also play songs

Cheerleaders dance

All the game long.

Occasional

Storms, join the fun

Lightning and rain

Soaked everyone.

After the game

March back to school

Either rain or shine

That was the rule.

Cadences play

Rhythm is cool

Loud drums echo

Our empty school.

Marching darkness

It’s a late night

Heading towards

The sole bright light.

To our band room

Instruments stowed

Uniforms off

Homeward we’d go.

Now that its safe

I can feel tired

My drumline’s done

More than required.

Some friends will wait

Lit by the moon

For dinner at

Our greasy spoon.

It’s ten thirty

The car lights bright

We depart home

Till next game night…

Godmother Long Gone

Your name carries

On windy days

Whispered by birds,

hawks, and blue jays.

Softly spoken

Almost a prayer

Close both my eyes

You’re standing there.

Twenty years gone

Feels even longer

My love for you

Had grown stronger.

Wish you could see

Who I am now

Evolution

And, holy cow.

No so afraid

Like in my youth

Brave decisions

Sharing my truth.

I think she’d smile

A whole lot more

Challenge myself

More than before.

I miss her warmth

She really cared

Reassurance

When I got scared.

She made me laugh

Even in tears

A gift she’s had

Throughout the years.

So when songs play

I sing by choice

She’ll harmonize

In her sweet voice…

Social Anxiety

Heaping mountains

Of building doubt

Block your front door

You can’t get out.

Your heart races

Your pulse is high

Anxiety

Makes your brain fry.

It’s in your head

Many friends say

They just don’t know

It’s not child’s play.

All emotions

At once you feel

This isn’t fake

It’s harshly real.

Believing mind

Over matter

It’s not a choice

Some are shattered.

Much braver than

A lion’s pride

Building up strength

Going outside.

So keep in mind

Some don’t come near

Not for spite but

Deep seated fear…

Daily Prompt: XYZABCDEF

Beach or mountains? Which do you prefer? Why?

I love both and I’ll explain why. Living in Southern California most of my life, we are one of the few states where you can have mountains and the beach relatively close to one another.

I’ve enjoyed the mountains in Southern California, as well in central and northern California.

I’ve also enjoyed the beaches up and down the coastlines as well. We also have some lovely deserts out here, too and as always, thank you for reading…

One To Ten

One is first

Two, obviously second

Three is next while

Four has beckoned.

Five is quite odd

Six is more even

Seven is sure nifty

Eight is for Stephen.

Nine is close to

Ten at the end of

Basic counting numbers

Enjoy, my friends…

Broken

IV tubes

Bruises purple and blue and red

She stirs in pain

From a cold hospital bed.

Her surgery is done

Fixing her femur shattered

Broken in three places

Her comfort is what matters.

As hourly nurses in poke and prod

She tries to rest if she can

Putting the pieces back together

Will be her next plan,

Immobile and needing care

Future physical therapy so she can walk

Everything has been so scary

She’s so weak she can barely talk.

She’ll bide her time and regain strength

Confined to her cold hospital bed

Twists and turns of the challenge before her

Are troubling her once peaceful head…

Fading Into Obscurity

It’s happened

I fade away

No one’s reading

Less views per day.

I’m just not sure

What can I do

To ebb the flow

Or am I through.

Once my blog bloomed

Thousands of views

Now low hundreds

What can I do.

Working so hard

Readers engaged

Nothing to do

Seeming so strange.

Should I give up

What if I quit

Stopped my writings

Somewhat legit.

Feeling so down

Trying my best

Doesn’t matter

I need to rest.

Some jealous folks

Went to WordPress

Unfounded lies

Were their success

Blogging future

In front of me

Fading into

Obscurity…

Pabst Smile

Phil enjoys the taste of beer

So much, his mouth changed its veneer

As the beer suds mellowed

All his teeth were yellowed

Every morning, he gargles Pabst, I hear…

Epic Ponders

Do ions ever lay still?

Can potatoes carry on discussions?

Are infinite sounds silent?

How do we measure eternity?

Are love and hate are forms of one another?

How soon are moments?

Could the zeroes in a google plex fill up an auditorium?

Why am I here?

Robitussin anyone?

Word of The Day “Neglected”

Four Quatrains of Neglect

Oppressed husband and cruel life – Steemit

I felt quite neglected

It’s just that simple

Didn’t receive love as expected

Instead of a wave, a ripple

I adored you every day

And do many little things

That’s why I feel dismay

That inequality brings

I told you truth

And dealt with your vice

You were always were uncouth

With your pack of lies

As I pay this final alimony

It hurts me like a knife

A manipulating phony

And never quite a wife…

Graduating in life

Can cut like a knife.

The rights of passage

Are through our assuage.

The world has turned

With each lesson learned.

Rising up from the dirt

Evolving with

change and hurt.

With all triumphs and falls

Remain true to you, through it all.

Clean up the mess

Hope for the best

Moving on to the next test…
