Past Peace And Grace

Looking in the past for the answer

Will consume your life like cancer.

Some rocks are better left in place

Acceptance gifts the reward of grace.

All in your life has happened for reasons

Go with the flow, evolve like the seasons.

Past tragedies do not define

Lessons learned are sublime.

Look backwards with perspective not rage

Past events in life’s book are just a page.

Know what you want and proceed

It’s not selfishness or even greed

It’s knowing what you will need

So that your happiness can feed…

Willow Tree

All willows weep

Sum of all tears

Their branches creep

Throughout the years.

Roots that run deep

Burdens carried

Challenge is steep

Never varied.

Green in springtime

Auburn in fall

Reason or rhyme

Unknown to all.

Always alive

Growing quite tall

More than survive

Thriving and all.

Lessons are learned

On every branch

Our world has turned

A solid stange.

Feelings do hurt

Accept, be free

Rise from the dirt

My willow tree…

Common Sense

Darkness obscures light

Revealed intentions locked

Answers before questions

           ,reevaluated,

Questions before answers

Locked intentions revealed

Light obscures darkness…

Emotional Drum

I was a drum

So they beat me

I was left numb

They besieged me.

No cymbals or set

One single drum

Filled with regret

For loving some.

The beat moves on

Just like our lives

The past is gone

Like some ex wives.

I hold the sticks

Once handed out

No more cheap kicks

Boundaries about.

A drumming snare

With sticks of oak

Much more aware

Of all that’s spoke.

My head is tuned

The snares are right

Sadness consumed

Future looks bright…

Acceptance

Pain comes in life

Second to none in strife

Wrecked like a cut from a knife.

Houses are not always homes

A creep and crawl inside our tomes

You  just experience it on your own.

Lack of cause can drive us mad

Thinking and wishing on what we had

Steadily reaching for nothing feels bad

Circumstances don’t always make us glad…

Greensleeves Take 5 by The Vince Guaraldi Trio

A couple of years ago I think it was in 2022, there was a new released version of the Charlie Brown Christmas album with a ton of studio outtakes included. I believe it’s called the super deluxe version or something to that effect.

For a music lover and nerd like myself, this offers a lot of very interesting different versions of the Christmas classics we’re accustomed to. I love hearing the outtakes and are some humor and all kinds of fun stuff on a lot of the other tracks too. It’s one of my favorite Christmas albums, and it has been ever since my young years.

You truly get an idea of how good the musicianship is on this album is, and how good and talented all the musicians are, especially Vince Guaraldi.

You can even hear the studio engineer giving instructions as they do this take and I think this version should’ve been released on the original album. I think it’s the coolest jazziest version of Greensleeves I have ever heard.

It’s very, very syncopated like jazz should be and just very unexpected and beautiful. Vince’s chops on the piano are absolutely insane. As he emotes such feeling into many of the sections.

Check it out I think it’ll really do something to you like it does to me and as is always thank you for reading and listening.

Zane the Zebra Zombie

Zane’s not quite alive but isn’t dead

He’s turned into a zombie zebra instead.

He’s the oddest zebra you’ve ever seen

Not many zebras sport a shade of green.

He’s quite I must say

Especially on St. Patrick’s Day.

Don’t worry, I know what zombies like to eat

But Zane likes grass, potatoes, and beets.

Toasted in butter baked on a range

These eating habits are kind of strange.

But in the end for a zombie quite sane

As Zane doesn’t like to eat any brains…

Allie the Anxious Alligator

Art by Marco Antonio Rodriguez

Allie was nervous sometimes beyond belief

From her green tail to her 80 sharp teeth.

She felt scared around strangers and those she knew.

So scared she didn’t know what to do.

Since she was a little hatchling

Anxiety has been a constant thing.

But Allie longs to have more fun

To play with alligator friends under the sun.

She tries to be brave as much as she can

But those butterflies in her tummy get out of hand.

Life can be hard, cruel, and unfair

Especially for alligators that really care.

Allie’s friends do often help her out

Reassuring her which friendship is all about.

Each day forward her bravery less wavers

Encountering a new adventure she savors.

Just take it easy one day at a time

With each, one less mountain to climb.

Since unlike his contemporaries, he’d always forget.

Homework, notes, the ladder for his bunk

If it wasn’t attached he’d misplace his trunk.

Consuming more ginseng would be a sure bet…

It’s a Journey…

Never let the harder parts bog you down.

Life’s journeys can be somewhat difficult.

It’s where we end up, so you need not frown.

Don’t beat yourself up, for it’s not your fault.

There’s sugar and spice but other times, salt.

Step up now and forget about the past.

For if you’d don’t, a happiness won’t last.

Now, you kick up your heals and celebrate.

As your best times will come upon you fast.

Being your best self in an ideal state…

Fire Journey

Standing against a fierce gale

A weighted pack upon my back

Taking on my largest fail

And using it to get on track

One step then two

Forward I move

My destination looms

As I get into my groove

Further, now I slowly progress

Pebbles and stones sting my face

Stepping into a new life was for the best

Your happiness will never go to waste

The steepness of this whistling hill

Is now slowly abating

Continuing the journey still

For a great future that’s waiting

The wind whips a final fury

As I reach the top of the hill

The final vertical awaits among the jury

As I reached the summit by my sheer will

I looked down from the top

And I can’t believe how far it goes

This phase, my evolution is at a stop

And I take stock of my previous woes

Who I am and who I’ll be

Was determined by this trek

The world will have to wait and see

My greatness versus the previous spec

Jubilation fills my heart

As I celebrate on this ridge

New exciting adventures will start

Now that I’ve crossed this shaky bridge

This is the end of the the beginning

Applying the lessons I’ve learned

This former loser now is winning

A life of happiness I have earned.

Beauty’s Happy Thoughts

Beauty, stood alone, collecting her thoughts.

She collected them, safely storing each.

Not conflicted by her haves and have nots.

A happy contentment just in her reach.

Sweet feeling inside like a summer peach.

Her lived life thus far has been far from fair.

Now she floats through, almost lighter than air.

Filled with a strength she thought she’d never have.

Strolling down the boulevard with a flare.

A fulfilled life that she’d happily grab.
