Three Things Challenge #935

Your three words today are:

INDIGO

INGEST

INJURE

Indigo Skies

The sky was indigo as the sun had long since disappeared.

Deep night quickly followed, so I proceeded with caution lest I injure myself.

As the purples faded, I ingested the darkness, welcoming it.

Starlight darkness is a beautiful world all in itself.

Moons, comets, galaxies, distant planets all participate in a dance of the night sky.

After I’ve had my fill of midnight wonder, I start to fade and go inside for a long awaited dream-filled rest…

Our Meeting Place

We stood together in the parking lot of our meeting place one last time.

I had been holding a 25 pound bag of ice so my hands were ice cold.

Not thinking I placed them on her face as I kissed her and she shivered and shimmied in shock and surprise.

I quickly warmed my hands and gently caressed her face.

I kissed her again and her checks warmed further turning a little red in the darkness.

She kissed back and for one fleeting moment, time froze for what would be our last kiss…

A Narcissist is Born

She was an innocent naive flower of a woman.

Until the cruel, cold, harsh world, got a hold of her.  Then cynicism took over, and her heart turned to ice.

Instead of love, all she could see was hate. Her trust, betrayed, she was heartbroken. Then set her sights n hurting others, as misery loves company…

Ten Minute Texas Thunderstorm

Midnight darkness slowly, gradually fills an increasingly less silent sky.

Thickening cauliflower clouds with dark bottoms rapidly blow by.

Alternating warm and cool breezes rise and fall directions.

First a single delicate drop tickles my right cheek like a kiss from the sky.

I run for cover as the impending deluge finally arrives in violent bursts dancing to the music of whispering winds.

Then a brilliant blinding white flash with a concussive answer of thunder punctuating the watery torrent…

Bravery on the Campus

He went out on a limb and expressed interest in her.

It’d been a long time since he’d connected with anyone.

The fears of rejection were always present but he was brave and moved forward.

She was very much out of this league but her pursued her anyway.

Quietly but surely, walking up to her with a single long stemmed red rose.

Presenting it to her as a gift, he asked her to join him for soda pop later that afternoon at the student union…

The High Rope Walker

The crowd watched in breathless silence as the walker made his way across.

It was a gale, twenty-five mile an hour wind which is even stronger at his locale.

As he stands tenderly on a small wire affixed between two skyscrapers more than seventy-five stories high, each.

In his hands, a wooden stick used for balance it’s nearly twenty feet long.

This stands as his sole assistance against the wind and his minuscule walkway.

Underneath him, nothing but a large experiment in gravity, should he fall the 800 plus feet to the cold asphalt below…

Social Security Sham

Anthony grumbled to himself as he entered the door.

Though he made an appointment, he will be waiting a long time.

As is the case for everyone entering the Social Security office.

He’d made an appointment three weeks ago and still he’s been waiting over an hour.

A myriad of display screens, indicate the assigned number of the sheep (person) that is being called.

Since my number isn’t close yet, I’m privileged to write a cherita capturing each love nuance, as I wait…

Don’t Walk Away, Run!!!

Crocheted Donut by Jenny Gallego

Your love was as satisfying as a crocheted donut for breakfast.

Your compassion was as deep and rich as a red solo cup.

Your passion was as fiery as the heart of a thousand year old glacier.

Your emotional abuse was as consistent as the phases of the moon.

Your disdain for me and anything I found remotely interesting was a death blow.

Taking all of these into consideration, I walked away and never looked back lest I be turned to stone…

Perilous Penny Purdy

Penny Purdy unleashes a barrage of her angst to an uncaring world.

The world responds to Penny in kind.

Handing her its very own harsh taste of bitter realities.

But never to be counted out, Penny fights back.

Finding an inner strength and sense of fortitude she presses on.

In the end she learns her lessons, finds the wisdom she needed to overcome come her angst in grace.

How a Poem Comes to Life

Each exhibit begins with an inspiration.

This leads to a written line or two

These are rhymed and placed into a format.

Subsequent lines come quickly afterward

Then additional stanzas appear, if needed

Finally, a closure line, signing, and art imagery are added…

Too Much

In his thirst for knowledge

He bit of more than he could chew

Now drowning in his porridge

Life passing before him

And everything he knew

Now grasping, struggling, for a point of view…

Self Evolution

I’ve evolved extensively on my life’s journey.

In the past I wished I was like everyone else

I had trouble accepting my uniqueness.

Today, I embrace my inner weird, big time

I appreciate my nonconformity

And I truly wholly love myself…
