Self Evolution

I’ve evolved extensively on my life’s journey.

In the past I wished I was like everyone else

I had trouble accepting my uniqueness.

Today, I embrace my inner weird, big time

I appreciate my nonconformity

And I truly wholly love myself…

Architect of change.

Your mannerisms are strange.

See a rearrange.

Brave, daring, and all.

Don’t be afraid of the fall.

Changes are a call.

Raising arms with pride.

A crucial journey inside.

Nothing more to hide.

Growing by the day.

Self doubt now in disarray.

Living for today.

Nothing to confide.

All is open on my side.

Goals that are quite wide.

All talents in play.

Use each, it’s the only way.

Need more can I say?

Be what’s meant to be.

See all things others can’t see.

Now you’re truly free.

William The Conqueror

William conquered in his little war

His battles are brief since he’s only four.

He setup his toys on opposing sides

With a few reserves he craftily hides.

He sounds off a “charge”

And sounds a barrage.

The toys fight and fall

As William carefully crawls.

Narrating the battle as it rages on

Until all his stand toys and reserves are gone.

Examining the battlefield he squeals out “Yes!”

Then he opens his closet and toy chest.

Picking up the carnage he puts them all away

Until tomorrow, with a new war he’ll play…

New Source

Kick up your heels

Get back on the horse

Adjust your reels

You’ve got a new source.

Set your hooks

Set up your bait

Spruce up your looks,

And just wait.

Get yourself a money train

Someone who’ll support y’all

And when he figures it out in vain

You’ll take him for a cash windfall.

Newport Beach 1977…

The bright ocean spray

Has always blown me away.

With the warmth of the inviting sun

We thoroughly enjoyed beach day fun.

As transistor radios blast

Running into the waves fast.

Gulls fly over this salty Eden

Unattended foods will be eaten.

Surfers ride the crests of the waves

I watch from the shore as the sun laves.

Being young, I learned to love the sea

At age 52 it now feels like a part of me…

Loving Creativity

Sing me a song

Dance me a dance

You can’t go wrong

If you take a chance.

Write me a sonnet

Or maybe a haiku

Creativity your bonnet

In everything you do.

Play me a concerto

Hold me at bay

Create a libretto

In all that you say.

Let me appreciate

Your talents and all

For everything you create

I further fall.

Shattered

She was a shattered woman, broken, destroyed by her childhood trauma.

Wearing her sadness like a widow’s black vail.

Her never-ending tears often fell and she was comfortless.

She’d hibernate for hours or even days.

Ever marinating in her self-doubt and loathing.

She occasionally contemplated taking her life and it frightened me.

Some forms of darkness cannot allow any light in, like wooden shutters closed during the daylight.

She couldn’t love me, she wasn’t capable.

So I loved for us both but that wasn’t unsustainable and was infinitely exhausting.

It took a tole on my soul and health, nearly destroying me in the process.

Her sudden and unexpected infidelities ended us and our ten year relationship.

Which shockingly hollowed me out inside.

Hard lessons learned, no matter how much you love someone, you cannot make them love themselves, let alone you…

Your Truth, Revealed

Tell your story

Share your truth

Don’t be gory

Or uncouth.

Use all your words

Choose them with care

As they cut like swords

If you aren’t aware.

Testify your life

As your words flow

Good times and strife

All the highs and lows…
