Younger Years are Sweeter

Missing my youth

The unknown was so exciting

It still is.

Playing Marco Polo

Is a rite of passage

For us all.

I miss childhood

The simplicity of it all

I’m done adulting.

Now, I’m older

I am far smarter knowing,

All I want.

Rather than what,

I think that I need

Makes a difference.

A huge difference

Once we learn our lessons

Wants replace needs…

An Earthquake!

Heavy shaking, items fall

Another SoCal earthquake

Somewhat normal for us all.

Many things can drop and break

Total chaos all around

Nerves are frazzled, alive, and ache.

Kneel and cover near the ground

Hang in there and just hold on

Amidst a low rumbling sound.

Occurring anytime of day or dawn

Centered all over the place

Hopefully it ends before all is gone.

Nerves are written all over my face

As all the shaking stirs

Safe by God’s grace.

The shaking stopped, and the news concurs

Now I just hope

That more shaking doesn’t occur…

A perfect sphere surrounds us each day

It’s our reality of everything we see

A myriad of emotions, are at play

And many affect both you and me

Outside the sphere, feelings abound

And each its own unique face

Happiness, sadness, and others are found

Surrounding people of every race

Which we choose or rather chooses us

We often have very little choice

Confronting our feelings is a must

When talking in our inner voice

We might as well roll with it all

There’s no need to lose control

Feelings, inside of us rise and fall

Learn to ride the ebb and flow

So how do we deal with all these thoughts

How do we gain an upper hand

Dealing with the past, you’ve wrought

Helps you draw boundaries in the sand

Then one day, you create a space

Between what you see and what you feel

Putting self control in place

Preventing overreaction, a bad way to deal

So as the realities challenge with strife

Remember, you are in control

Of your reality and your life

Don’t let your feelings take a toll…

The Eagle Flies

Razor sharp talons grab prey

As an eagle hunts for a meal

Doing so many times each day.

I wonder how it feels

To soar so high

So much it reveals.

High up in the sky

The view must amaze

Don’t know until you try.

Flying towards the sun rays

Rising on warm thermal air

Clear skies above the haze.

Taking off with great care

She soars upward fast

Such beauty beyond compare.

As the sun sets at last

She lands gently in her nest

Dreaming of flights of the past…

Fun At Last Paid for in my Past

Originally Published 04/29/2024

I have been to hell and back

Upon the most treacherous course

My life and memories in a virtual knapsack

Navigating my life, post divorce

I don’t know where I go next

But I know it’s going to be fun

My past days of being hexed

Are all finished and truly done

Endless adventures await my life

I’m enjoying the unknown of each day

Over are all my days of strife

And now it’s time to enjoy and play

Tomorrow isn’t guaranteed

So each our lives, we must not waste

For the hazards of our pasts we all must heed

To thrive inside our happy place

Endless days and laughing times

I look forward to enjoy

Sharing experiences with friends of mine

With hard learned lessons, I employ

Who knows next which way I go

Not even I can answer

But I’m enjoying the ebb and flow

Just like that of the dancer…

Ex

I have nothing to say

With little to do

So kindly go away.

I needn’t see you

Goodbye

So leave my view.

I know you didn’t cry

You never had tears

Never water in your eyes.

You had fears

That I’d leave soon

I did after seven years.

Time is my boon

I’m glad I left

In February not June.

Of feelings you were bereft

You never had an ounce of guilt

As you took everything, in theft.

I guess that’s how you were built

Not capable of love or care

Instead, you’d rather jilt.

I doubt you were aware

When I was about to leave

You probably thought it unfair.

It was my turn, for once, to deceive

And I did what you earned and deserved

I swiftly left, and got my reprieve…

QOTD: #146

If you were going to open up a shop, what would you sell?

If I were to open the store, I’d be very akin, to the store that John Cusack owned in the movie High Fidelity. Which is consequently one of my favorite movies ever too by the way.

It would be a record store, and me and my friends would be there all day long being music snobs about all we know, and determining whether some of the customers are qualified to buy the music or not.

As always, thank you for reading…

She Knows

When her legs are wrapped

All around, show her passion

Do not waste her time

Not suffering any fools

She knows everything she wants.

All her needs expressed

I fulfill all her desires

Deftly as I can

Her nails dig into my back

But I never mind, ever…

Inspiration

Spark pop, electricity, boom!!!!

Smoke and a flash and voila!

There it is, a lightbulb an idea a concept.

Something unique different wild crazy original.

Make people think more importantly, feel.

Try and evoke memories of pain or happiness.

Or be cute, funny, and creative.

Be passionate and powerful

The genius of new and exciting things, starts with you…

When fairy tales don’t come true

Wherever will you look

Chucking every book

Abandoning each new plot

As something that we haven’t got

Searching for a relevant story

Not the drama insanity or glory

Rearrange the plot to make it work

Morph into a hero instead of a jerk

Be the man you were meant to be

In every way so the women can see

Just how great you really are

Then my friend you’ll be, a star

Top of their lists and gaining their call

Because you’re the one that is it all

Showing a light that beams from your soul

Will gain the trust that can bury the holes

Don’t give up as you are the best

As this is just another test…

Mountain Adventures

At this altitude, thin is the air

At first it really is a scare

Breathing differently requires care.

Once the breathing adjustment’s done

Then it is time to have great fun

Please use some caution when you run

Or you might get caught unawares.

Go for a hike or fishing too

Many activities to do

Aside from admiring the view

Be sure to watch out for the bears.

Rent a condo or pitch a tent

Glamping or RVs, worth each cent

Worth it all for the great time spent

With, s’mores and marshmallows to spare.

Hikes are long and need many stops

To catch your breath and cop a squat

Refreshing water hits the spot

Hard granite serves as your chair.

Catching and cooking rainbow trout

Is what mountains are all about

Don’t let the thin air make you part

With beauty beyond all compare.

Look all good things your trip will end

Many stories to tell your friends

Giving back gear they had to lend

Until the next trip to prepare…

My Newest Molar

Hello little toothy

Welcome back to my mouth

You’re my newest molar

That I lost a few months south.

I promise not to mistreat you

In eating, work, or play

So that you’ll never leave me

As you did that day.

I will brush and floss you

And handle you with care

So that I won’t further lose you

And have a mouth that’s bare.

So today I got to the dentist

To add you to my teeth

My mouth’ll be a little fuller

Much to my relief.

Time Catches Us All

Tereza ran down the street

Clutching a bag in her hands

Without any shoes on her feet.

Her plight is her own, no one understands

She’s carrying a lot more than her bag

Weighed down by time, like hour glass sands.

As she’d run her head would sag

Lowered by many a burden

She can’t slow down or even lag.

It will catch her, that is for certain

As time catches us all

Right up to the final curtain…

QOTD: #144

What is the most important thing to carry with you all the time?

Easily and by far my two iPhones are the most important thing I carry with me.

The larger iPhone serves as my iPod with all my music on it.

My smaller phone serves many functions:

I do my writing on it.

I do my blogging on it.

I use to communicate (calls,video chat,texts,social media).

I play games on it .

I look up information on it.

It serves as my GPS.

It’s my organizer and planner as well.

I get news, weather, earthquakes and other information on it as well.

As always thank you for reading…

QOTD: # 143

What change, big or small, would you like your blog to make in the world?

I want my blog to do many positive things:

Provide hope for the hopeless.

Love (self) for the loveless.

A voice for the unspoken.

Helping many relate that felt they were alone.

Especially to provide advice and optimism to those that have survived horrendous relationships with narcissists or other abusive people.

The world‘s smaller place than it seems and we all need to remember all in the same town. We are all in this together. It’s called the human race.

As always, thank you for reading… 😊

The Uninvited

This is for people who aren’t invited

Whose names don’t make others excited.

The ones at the top of their classes

Socially awkward and wearing glasses.

Wanting above all else just to belong

But being treated like they’re wrong.

Incessantly picked on and mocked out loud

Because they don’t fit in with the crowd.

Being unique isn’t at all bad

But it drives the unoriginal mad.

Persons that are smart, eccentric, unique

Get relegated as losers or freaks.

I’m proudly among those few

Cast aside and set askew.

Happy to be my odd duck self

Even if I was left on the shelf.

Our minds are free and artistry true

It’s the only thing that we can do.

I say this happily braving every snub

Wholeheartedly a member of the loser’s club.

Dances and parties that others would share

Most of us were uninvited, unneeded, not there.

Later in life though, our value is known

When we eventually come into our own.

So never count out  n this motley crew

In this current day and age

For we all know what to do

When we’re released from our cage…

Passions Alive

Please, place your left hand in my right

We’re not sleeping until late tonight.

To my room and in my bed

Not to rest our pretty heads.

Kisses deep all over for you and I

There’s no limit to where we’ll fly.

Sharing desires and shedding clothes

Where we end up, nobody knows.

Closer and closer, we’re both aware

Legs entangled but we don’t care.

There’ll be very little light, but we will see

All of what passions are meant to be.

You give your trust and I’ll give mine

And everything will end up fine.

Nothing but time and plenty to waste

No need to approach this with haste.

After hours of passions supplied

and we are mutually satisfied.

We turn off our phone’s morning alarms

Then fall asleep in each other’s arms…

My Right Arm

Just hidden inside

In my right jacket pocket

Part of my right arm

I presume that it explains

Why my right arm is so short…
