Writing Life

Writing poetry isn’t very easy

As inspiration strikes we’re busy.

🤪

Placing words together that rhyme

Like “time”, “slime”, and “mime”

🤪

To compose a limerick that’s not cheesy.

A Poets Work is Never Done

Consonants, syllables, words, and beat

These are the color pallets of a poet

There are no shortcuts or way to cheat

Ask any one of us, as we all know it

Usually one line comes to mind

As we create something new

Each poem, one of a kind

As our processes are tried and true

Counting syllables with one hand

Per the rules of a poetry type

Only a poet understands

The efforts involved as they write

Often when the writing is done

One stanza must be erased

This is part of our editing fun

As our poems form, post haste

Quatrains, haikus, raikus, and quadrilles

A myriad of forms for the poet to choose

Using our creativity to climb those hills

So that our readers will be amused

Then at last we’re finally through

All the words are down and complete

There’s nothing really left to do

Except go to WordPress and publish the latest suite.

Terza Rima Friday Night

It’s Friday Night

After a crazy week

All is in sight.

As I try not to freak

It’s all under control

As long as I don’t speak.

Digging myself out of this hole

Is never very easy

Trying my best to go with the flow.

Sometimes my words are cheesy

Other times they have their charm

Be it tranquil or somewhat breezy.

Never want to cause alarm

Or even a scare

I haven’t checked out of the farm

I know you would care

Because you’ve shown it

And that you’re aware.

That I’ve grown from it

And I’ve matured too

I can silently sit.

Contemplate a memory or two

My life has been so long

I don’t always know what to do.

So I put on a favorite song

As music soothes my troubled mind

And I play it all day and night long.

Always gets me out of a bind

Or a writer’s block case

Often words, I’ll suddenly find.

Right in front of my face

Obvious and my choice

It’s a shock I ever misplaced.

I’ve definitely found my voice

Using words instead of screams

Now I truly can rejoice.

Relaxing as it seems

Until the next challenges arise

Using all within my means.

It’s no surprise

To live in an ideal

As I now surmise.

Laying back after a meal

Dabbling in my poetry

Writing tercets by feel…

QUOTES:

Wave of Creativity by Susan Card

“A tidal wave of creativity has struck.

Grab your board and ride it without fear.

Stay on top of it and you will never fall.

Or get dragged down by violent eddies and undertows”

Inspiration

Spark pop, electricity, boom!!!!

Smoke and a flash and voila!

There it is, a lightbulb an idea a concept.

Something unique different wild crazy original.

Make people think more importantly, feel.

Try and evoke memories of pain or happiness.

Or be cute, funny, and creative.

Be passionate and powerful

The genius of new and exciting things, starts with you…

A New Way to Best Writer’s Block

Laying silently on my bed

No ideas, are in my head

Closed eyes, now rest a bit

You’ll find something after your sleep

Just relax, and your mind will keep

Everything it sees fit.

Do not rush to awaken yet

Dreamt ideas are best to get

Once your dream ends, you rise

Now work, those new ideas, hard

Write with intention and regard

Shaped, right before your eyes…

Feelings, The Poet’s Muse

Art: Poet And Muse – By Valentine Tusai

Love and heartbreak are my muse

In my writings and my truths.

To feel those extremes and feel them hard

And put them in words with careful regard.

To share the purest and darkest of feelings

With life’s happiest and saddest dealings.

Is a privilege and not a curse

Processing emotions and not feeling worse.

Finding common ground with all around

Relating your words in your blog abound.

I keep writing, day and night

Trying to get the rhythms, right.

And when I want to break my norm

I try out new poetic forms.

I like the technical aspects that apply

Just fitting in words and figuring out why.

In the end when it’s time to share,

I make my edits and choose with care.

Lest my poetry goes off the rail

Which would be an epic fail…

How a Poem Comes to Life

Each exhibit begins with an inspiration.

This leads to a written line or two

These are rhymed and placed into a format.

Subsequent lines come quickly afterward

Then additional stanzas appear, if needed

Finally, a closure line, signing, and art imagery are added…
