Day’s End

Crickets chirp their song.

Softly as a breeze beckons.

Soft tendrils hold me.

The first stars appear.

As light blues fade to dark ones.

Embrace the darkness.

Day’s End Foretold

The shadows grow long.

The nightingales sing their song.

I don’t think they’re wrong.

The sky turns deep red.

Time to put the day to bed.

Rest your wearied head.

Just welcome the night.

Knowing all will be alright.

When we lose daylight…
