Broken

IV tubes 

Bruises purple and blue and red

She stirs in pain 

From a cold hospital bed.

–

Her surgery is done

Fixing her femur shattered

Broken in three places

Her comfort is what matters.

–

As hourly nurses in poke and prod 

She tries to rest if she can 

Putting the pieces back together

Will be her next plan,

–

Immobile and needing care 

Future physical therapy so she can walk

Everything has been so scary

She’s so weak she can barely talk.

–

She’ll bide her time and regain strength

Confined to her cold hospital bed 

Twists and turns of the challenge before her 

Are troubling her once peaceful head…

Crushed

She really took him for such a fall.

He had no idea until it was too late.

There’s nothing that could be done at all.

Just pack it up, and call it a day.

Try bouncing a ball against the wall.

That should clear your weary mind.

Or placate further, hike a hill that’s tall.

It’s over now, for this, there is no debate.

One day soon, you’ll be clear of this squall…

*Lying still in silent embracing of thought

*Warm notions gently wash over a weary mind

*Kindness fills up until bubbling over

*Sadness, gone and not chosen

*Solely, the greatest remain

*Warming heart beats, and loves with passion

*Strong/seasoned with extensive use

*Wisdom comes forward replacing pain

*Compassion is present replacing hate

*Patience and forgiveness applied in abundance quietly inside

*Grace filled will all the love that it can hold

*This is living, now, eyes closed drifting blissfully…
