Genesis: One For the Vine

This is most definitely the greatest Genesis song I have never heard before off an album I also hadn’t heard.

It’s pure Progressive Rock with a lot of great changes and odd time signatures.

Phil Collin’s vocals are very close to his predecessor’s Peter Gabriel.

This has become one of my favorite Genius songs and the Album The Wind And Withering as well.

Keep in mind this is progressive music. This is not the short poppy tunes. If you’re listening to the Genesis of the early to mid 80s (and beyond) this is a lot more complex sound.

Sitting alone and she’s hours late, again. Out shopping despite my pleadings not to, again. Three hours late so far, I hope she’s not in trouble, again.

She’s a good person and doesn’t mean any of it. Please hear my prayer closely and distinctly. Dear God, I pray to you on all that is great in the world, for her safe return home. Shes not perfect but bless her the same. Please, if I have anything good or special to be bestowed upon me, give it to her instead. She needs it more than me. I’m not a martyr I just want her to be ok. Coping with another extended stay in jail and being alone would be unbearable. Please hear my prayer, Amen…

T rying to regain composure

A ll things you do are that much harder

I nability to make decision due to distraction

N otice the world around you seeming to slow down

T antalizing contentment seems miles away
