Beachside Villa Nap

Floating in the primordial gypsum of nothing

Silent without intention or any desired direction.

Darkness envelops as eyelids grow heavy

as deep sleep consumes consciousness

Awareness of only the thundering ocean

Desperately endlessly beating a shoreline

Troubles worries and stress melt away

With the serendipitous tide of salt water

Warm sea breezes waft in open windows

Beckoning in the afternoon sunlight

In a room sparsely large enough for a bed

Out humble narrator snores deliriously

I should awaken for I have much to do

But my dreams keep me in place…

Fun in Crab Kay

It’s the happiest day

to all living on Crab Kay

Friends, neighbors and family alike

Come to the beach on a short hike

Blankets are down radio’s play

Providing a soundtrack to the warm beach day

Picnic baskets and lunches are many

The ultimate potluck of all and any

Cool fried chicken ready to eat

Cherries and grapes just can’t be beat

Children, giggle, and dance on the beach

With the cool ocean waters just out of reach

Gentle breezes fill the air

A very pleasant, warm affair

Eat balls, fly, and giggles follow

On this day, that’s far from sorrow

Others swim, where the waves just break

Having all the fun they can take

All this playing and positive mood

Increases the need for some yummy food

Barbecues fire hotdogs cook

With every fixing in the book

Corn on the cob melted butter

All prepared while the goers scutter

Potato salad cold slaw and fruit

An assured full stomach on all this loot

Is the sun moves from overhead to west

The town goes home for a well earned rest

The sunsets now on quiet Crab Kay

Is it residence dream of this beautiful day…

QUOTES:

Wave of Creativity by Susan Card

“A tidal wave of creativity has struck.

Grab your board and ride it without fear.

Stay on top of it and you will never fall.

Or get dragged down by violent eddies and undertows”

opaque shapes don’t hide the sun as the warm breezes gently kiss

suddenly I inhale an entire grove of coconuts and she’s there

laying on a blanket bikini laden dark soft skin drinking up the sunlight

refreshment of her design in hand complete with umbrella and ice

sporting Jackie-O sunglasses and enjoying all life has to offer

legs trim and long and strong and beautiful bringing my mind to a place where pain doesn’t exist

she smiles a wry smile at me and as usual challenges me, I feel the shock as the cold water laps up my ankles

stepping ever forward I am washed in the spray of soft white foam the smoothly caresses my arms and legs as I enter

I duck and dodge a behemoth of a wave just as an airplane flies overhead affixed to the back, car insurance ads

it’s up to my neck now, be careful, many drown here that are younger and fresher

a helicopter juts by and I wave that I am ok as a wave slaps my face with its cold fingers

that slapped burned as the salt water swirls in my mouth and I spit it out

kelp, seaweed, aliens I am unsure what this stuff is but it entangles me just as the woman on the shore did

I grab a handful and chuck it away and await its magic re-emergence

I turn to shore and head in the direction of the woman as her coconut essence calls out to me

a warm smile greets me and warm lips as well just as a gentle ocean wind catches us both enveloping us

contentedness without limit, warmth without cold and desire without rejection…

The beach calls us all into her soft sensual arms.

Newport Beach 1977…

The bright ocean spray

Has always blown me away.

With the warmth of the inviting sun

We thoroughly enjoyed beach day fun.

As transistor radios blast

Running into the waves fast.

Gulls fly over this salty Eden

Unattended foods will be eaten.

Surfers ride the crests of the waves

I watch from the shore as the sun laves.

Being young, I learned to love the sea

At age 52 it now feels like a part of me…
