Ant’s Poetic Form Toolshed

A tanka here and a haiku there

Clogyrnachs and quadrilles everywhere.

Quantrains, palindromes a plenty

A-to-Zed and a limerick if any.

Acrostic and diminishing are other forms

Ars Poetica and cinquain, far from norms

Abstract, sound, anagram, and The Blitz

Add to this poet’s toolshed kits.

There are other styles I rehearse

Straight up AB rhymes and Free verse.

Magic 9 and dizain complete my list

Of poetic forms plus adding my own twist.

I sometimes rhyme tankas or haikus

Just to give myself more to do….

Not Done Yet, By A Long Shot

Not a person

On planet earth

Will stop my art

It’s all I’m worth.

No hosting site

Should mess with you

With all efforts

Honest and true.

Don’t hate players

Despise the game

Their example

On me, placed blame.

Unsure of what

That I’ll do next

Falsely accused

Now I am vexed.

I am lucky

Know authors

Quite positive

Kindness offers.

I guess for now

I’ll keep going

All my writings

Overflowing…

A Poets Work is Never Done

Consonants, syllables, words, and beat

These are the color pallets of a poet

There are no shortcuts or way to cheat

Ask any one of us, as we all know it

Usually one line comes to mind

As we create something new

Each poem, one of a kind

As our processes are tried and true

Counting syllables with one hand

Per the rules of a poetry type

Only a poet understands

The efforts involved as they write

Often when the writing is done

One stanza must be erased

This is part of our editing fun

As our poems form, post haste

Quatrains, haikus, raikus, and quadrilles

A myriad of forms for the poet to choose

Using our creativity to climb those hills

So that our readers will be amused

Then at last we’re finally through

All the words are down and complete

There’s nothing really left to do

Except go to WordPress and publish the latest suite.

Saturday’s All Write

Saturday morning

And it’s time to hustle

Without warning

Must use my creative muscle.

Placing some prose

From mind to phone

Plenty of those

Quiet, here, alone.

Coining a phrase

Or three or four

Whatever the case

I must write more.

My Friday views

Are often low

Why all readers less choose

I guess I’ll never know

All the while

I’ll get it straight

Write and file

Until I’ve done eight.

Micro poems

A haiku or two

A Clogyrnach gem

Or Dizain in view.

Then I can relax

Free of sorrow

Have a few snacks

Or write for tomorrow…

A Writer, I Must Be

What to do

In this time

Is writing

Such a crime?

Is there else

To create

Not at all

It is fate.

Tried crochet

Didn’t work

Those stitchings

Must be shirked.

Panting next

One did try

Not quite good

Isn’t a lie.

Then welding

Back in school

Hot metal

Burned the fool.

Then at last

The only craft

To create

Without laughs.

Writing blogs

Words galore

With ideas

Not a chore.

In the end

To belong,

In poems

That’s the song…
