Daily Question # 52

What was the last live performance you saw?

The last live show I saw was Depeche Mode at Crypto Arena in Los Angeles a couple weeks before Christmas 2023.

The show was very good and the band did not disappoint. Highlight of the evening was a stunning rendition of my favorite off of violator, Waiting for the Night to Fall.

This was my sixth time seeing Depeche and I feel quite nostalgic recalling my first time seeing one of my favorite bands some 36 years ago.

The Depeche Mode Pasadena Rose Bowl concert of 1988 was my first concert and I was 16 years old. It was the 101st and final leg of their Music For The Masses tour. This was long concert that was almost a mini festival. With Wire as the opening act, followed by Thomas Dolby, then Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark, and the heading band.

This set the tone for what would become a lifetime love of live music and concerts that continues to this day.

Music is my greatest passion and love and I’m privileged to have seen many great live bands. I look forward to enjoying many more. Whether you’re 16, or 24, or 36, or even 52, there’s great music out there to experience. I’ll see you all at the next big act!

  1. Jane Eyre was awesome. As for music, besides the string quartet I saw playing a Taylor Swift tribute, I went to Louisville, KY in September for a 4-day festival, Bourbon and Beyond. It was star-studded. Brandi Carlile had been on my bucket list. I don’t normally post links, but you might appreciate the line-up. That. Was. Fun.
