• Suddenly everything became blurry and dark…

Foresty Park

I made my way through the foresty park 

Suddenly everything became blurry and dark.

–

The trees blew left and then to the right 

In the prevailing winds throughout the night.

–

A musty smell filled the air 

The promise of rain so I must prepare 

–

I zip up my coat and fastening  the cowl 

Greeted by the hoot of a nearby owl.

–

I stumbled through brashes and thickets 

To the continuing chorus of male crickets. 

–

Moving on I’m feeling very weary 

The rapid  darkness feels quite eerie.

–

Rustling leaves in an all directions 

The cooling breeze offers little protection

–

Occasional flashes start to appear

With distant rumbles perk my ears.

–

Leaving soon is my greatest bet 

Unless I desire to get wet.

–

I figure out my bearings and find my way 

Back to its entrance I saw earlier that day.

–

I gather myself like a old bound tome 

Then I make my way back beyond the entrance towards home…
