Back At My Beach

The serendipitous tide

Laps water along the side.

Bubbles rise out of wet sand

If you’re lucky, small sand crab in hand.

Rubbery kelp floats by bearing odd fruit

Sometimes entangled with our swimsuits

The salty scent of the ocean is clean

Adding beauty to all that is seen.

Gulls fill the air gliding like ships

Ready to feast on any bag of chips.

The sand is soft support for walks

Just be wary of super sharp rocks.

Waves crash hard a saltwater burst

If you drink any, it’s instant thirst.

Transistor radios crackle alive

One playing “I Will Survive”.

Sea and Ski and coconut fill the air

As beachgoers protect their skin with care.

This beach was my beach when as a kid

Nowadays it’s undergone such a skid…
