Stories Of Old

Tell me your secrets of old

Of magic times in distant lands

Before my heart grows cold

Tell me while I understand.

Tales of the valiant and brave

Princesses and castles long gone

Plenty of heroes and occasional knave

Sit with me quietly and I’ll go on.

Magicians and jesters

And all in between

Evil princes that pester

Great kings that might have been.

Sorcery and witchcraft ate afoot

Watch out where you move and see

One bad step and your journeys’s moot

You be all trapped instead of free.

Not all witches are evil or bad

Some cast nice magic spells

While others may drive you mad

With only time can you tell.

Swordsman and maidens everywhere

Countless battles and wars fought

Treasure and riches beyond compare

Life and death as destiny’s wrought.

Persons poor, humble, and proud

Beginnings so harsh they’re barely alive

Triumphant trumpet fanfares aloud

Just open your ears and close your eyes.

Maidens sporting ethereal gowns

Knights in armor non-discreet

Dressed for battle, many pounds

A battle ax, now they’re complete.

The stories are long and vivid too

Written over hundreds of years

Knowing them all are a privileged few

Most have gone on to eternity I fear.

Giants, goblins, elves, and dwarfs

Have their part in the stories as well

Mystical creatures of every sort

Some heavenly, while others from hell.

Amulets, necklaces, and rings

There value one cannot comprehend

Golden bobbles and other things

All these treasures make your mind bend.

Pay a tribute to the oracles for truth

Only in the currency of gold

Lacking this wisdom denies you, soothe

Or any other answer they could tell.

Find a place comfortable and soft

Enjoying all tales and their spin

In a warm bedroom or a cozy loft

Open the pages, and let’s begin…
