When a someone dies
The wind is knocked out of you
Then everyone cries
Knowing not what they can do.
–
Desperately searching your mind
for the last thing said
Something substantial and kind
That might ease your head.
–
It hits you between the eyes
Harsh reality
You’ll never see them and sighs
Such finality.
–
So sad you almost can’t cry
Yet endless tears fall
You do all you can to try
But you’re three feet tall.
–
Try to hold it together
Others are far worse
Moments forever
An eternal curse.
–
Wishing hard we couldn’t feel
A shock to the core
Much more than life, death does steal
Someone we adored.
–
Feeling that there’s more out there
Does help some get through
Offering comfort to share
And positive thoughts too.
–
Positive thoughts, prayers as well
Through these emotions
One day you’ll heal, time will tell
Life is an ocean.
–
Forever they are alive
In memories and hearts
As the living must survive
Moving, forward, starts…

I lost my husband 7 years ago and as of today it still feels like that was yesterday. I have the wonderful memories, I have had the proof of his presence from time to time which makes things a bit easier, and I have seen him in my dreams. The other two hardest was my dad when I was 10 years old and my mom whom I relied on for her wisdom but then I also still had my husband around and he was my rock,

Well written. It made me think of my daddy. The ocean and the sunset. He was buried at sunset as we scattered his ashes over the sea. It was the hardest goodbye I’ve ever had to say.
