QUOTES:

Wave of Creativity by Susan Card

“A tidal wave of creativity has struck.

Grab your board and ride it without fear.

Stay on top of it and you will never fall.

Or get dragged down by violent eddies and undertows”

Writing in the Darkness

Laying in bed, it’s dark and day

The blackout curtains gently sway.

Writing many works to blog one day soon

It’s dark and quite cool in my hotel room.

Beside me she sleeps and gently snores

As poetry floods my mind more and more.

I can’t type fast enough my fat finger foes

Clunking on my iPhone as I write my prose.

Saturday morning, nearly afternoon

Vacation nearly over, homeward bound soon.

Gentle sighs as she happily dreams

Of times that are as blissful, like now as it seems.

Temperature, the story of old

Pulling up the covers as I get cold.

Nearly finished now, nine poems in two hours

They’re flowing sweetly like fresh cut flowers.

Feeling I know myself much more

Gazing at beauty, as she softly snores.

I won’t wake her as I write

Letting her rest on this day of night…

Happily, Parting Company

You have no right

To recuse me dear

Bark was worse than the bite

I call your bluff, now and here.

Your words don’t carry

Do give it all up

You’re no longer scary

Just leave with your cup.

You are so insane

I truly pity you

With a damaged brain

And you’re toxic too.

Don’t ever seek me out

No goodbyes were needed

Stand pat, serious and stout

All warnings are heeded.

Far away from me

Just go live your life

Deranged as can be

Another sucker’s wife…

Opening Night, Every Night…

You are the lead actor in your own play

With the trials and tribulations of a day.

The acts unfold in the form of hours

Time ebbs and falls like petals on flowers.

The costars are many in life’s roles

Some helpful, while others take tolls.

The sets of life are striking and large

Universe, the director that’s in charge.

The audience, quite small numbering, one

Experience joy, happiness, misery, or fun.

You draft the script as you live each day

Mastering many obstacles within your play.

Music, your orchestra, from front to back

Relieving tense moments with a soundtrack.

No trepidation or fear on opening night

With your lifetime of chances to get it right…

Seasons

Season of rain

Ushers in pain.

Seasons of sun

Bring about fun.

Seasons of cold

Blankets are sold.

Season of fire

Fulfilling desire.

Season of heat

Radiated street.

Season of breeze

Swiftly moving trees.

Seasons of spring

Bluebirds sing.

Season of fear

Will life endear?

Season of summer

Never a bummer.

Seasons of love

Peace of doves.

Season of salt

Dinner’s gestalt.

Season of fall

Halloween and all.

Season of pepper

Sneezing forever.

Season of hate

Political debate.

Season of winter

Frost, crack, splinter.

Seasons renewed

No year, subdued.

Seasons do end

Let’s not pretend…

Music, Life’s Boon

Songs will sing

Hope they bring

Lessens stings.

Music soothes

Life behooves

Feeling grooves.

Beats will fall

Touching all

Standing tall.

Sonic sound

Always around

Lost and found.

Steps and twists

Shaking wrists

Late night trysts.

Playlists built

To the hilt

Nothing spilt.

Journeys fun

Or a run

In the sun.

Music wills

Life instills

Bitter pills.

Negate hurts

In efforts

Like desserts.

Play your tunes

They’re your boons

When consumed…

Scene of the Crime

We return to the scene of the crime

Here and there from time to time.

Many of us sometimes, must return

To where and when things overturn.

To see if there is a different song

Or reason things went so wrong.

Find the causes for being spurned

Glom any lessons to be learned.

As we do, it’s an extended time alone

Away from friends, staying off the phone.

Though, combing hard pasts for an answer

Eats away at us all like an insidious cancer.

Unless you’re learning something new

You’ll get stuck and start dwelling too.

Be present be here and now

Make yourself a solemn vow.

Find the power of gratitude

Then adjust your attitude.

You’ll find peace

In the very least.

Do what you can that feels right

During your days or even at night.

Reboot your mindset, reach out to friends

Drop the obsession with solving your trends.

Play to all your strong suits, of course

Share your experience or writing source…

Peace With The Past

The days roll by

One after the other

Take pause and sigh.

Uncertainty like no other

Haunts us inside

Like a firmer friend or lover.

Give up your pride

Eat some humble pie

And go for a ride.

Each nanosecond rolls by

An eternity in each

Wishing and be could fly.

Placing hardships out of reach

Landing upon happier times

One some warm sandy beach.

We never stop paying for past crimes

Punishing ourselves for those mistakes

Get what we deserve on karmic lines.

So take all those breaks

Parlay them into happiness

And avoid all the flakes.

Finally you can impress

Upon yourself

Gentle peacefulness…

QOTD: 165

Why do you blog?

I blog for three reasons.

First, to share my writing with a real audience. Second, so that I might receive feedback on my writing. Finally, through blogging I will (hopefully) create enough works to publish several books and reach an even larger audience.

Thank you for reading…

QOTD: #164

Interview someone — a friend, another blogger, your mother, the mailman — and write a post based on their responses.

I am sorry, but I’m not gonna put anybody through that. Besides, I’m on vacation this weekend. 😊😊

Imperfect Perfection

Such an imperfect me

Far from perfect as can be.

In conformity, left out in the cold

Feeling as weird as being told.

Based on harsh words being said

Gaze in mirrors for a second head.

Wanting only to belong

Rather than being wrong.

Trying to be a social butterfly

Was truly just a sad little lie.

Feeling too much is the worst

Being both a gift and curse.

Many lie only when their lips move

Words of deception never soothe.

Use your gut ditch your pride

Then you’ll know who’s on your side.

Be odd, out of step with the world

They’re strait-laced, while you’re curled.

At days end, you only have you

And self love, is the best thing to do.

Drummers Feel The Beat

Playing the skins is never quite easy

Much dexterity is required

That’s why drummers are never cheesy.

They’re far more respected and admired

Despite the difficulty under which they play

At the end of the set they are often tired.

Each time they play, it’s a different way

That’s how we create our licks

Practicing both night and day.

Crafting ad libs and other tricks

In the arsenal of skills

Using two fine wooden sticks.

The kits aren’t cheap and fetch high bills

Why many a drummer doesn’t have a set

Always keeping the beat with thrills.

Leaving their best at each gig without regret

Pouring it all into every song

Strong forearms are the safest bet.

Ask any percussionist if I’m wrong

Giving their all to preserve the beat

Sitting in back as the guitarists throng.

Learning anew from all we meet

Ever expanding the repertoire

Until our skillsets are complete

Hauling our gear in a van or car…
